The Trimurti is the great triad of Hindu cosmology: Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver, and Shiva the destroyer and transformer. Together they personify the eternal cycle by which the universe is made, sustained, and dissolved before being reborn.
Each god is paired with a goddess whose energy, or shakti, empowers him: Vishnu with Lakshmi, goddess of fortune, and Shiva with Parvati, goddess of power. From Shiva and Parvati comes Ganesha, the beloved remover of obstacles who completes this divine family.
